  1. SlipShaft™ KT Break-away Head.

    • Q- When should I detach my KT Head from the Front-end Adapter?

    • A- When transporting your KT Break-away Head be sure to separate/detach from Front-end Adapter to avoid bending/warping the the Front-end Adapter's nipple section or the head bore seating section especially when traveling on rough water in a boat or on bumpy roads in a vehicle. Also separate/detach when transporting by air.

    • Q- Can I use my KT Head and Front-end Adapter for reef diving?

    • A- The KT-312 & 281 Break-away Heads were designed for blue water use however if you are using while reef diving be extremely careful so as to not allow your head and adapter to hit any rock or hard objects after through penetration of fish because doing so may cause severe damage to your head, adapter or both.

    • Q- Can I use my KT-281S Head and Front-end Adapter on a spear gun for blue water and reef diving?

    • A- The KT-281S Break-away Head was designed for Pole Spear use while reef diving but be advised that extreme caution must be used so as to not allow your head and adapter to hit any rock or hard objects after through penetration of fish with full impact force because doing so may cause severe damage to your head and adapter. This head may also be used on a spear gun shaft for blue water or reef diving however it has shorter 2" flopper barbs so it will not have the holding range (about 3.5") like our KT-312 & 281 Break-away Heads which have holding ranges of about 5.5" respectively.

    • Q- How should I care for my KT Head and Front-end Adapter?

    • A- Oil (any thin viscosity lube oil that has added corrosion control will do) your KT Break-away Head flopper barb pins about once per month and if planning to store for a long time (6 months or more). This will help to minimize corrosion that may form between the flopper barb pins and their bored hole walls in the head due to water that may not dry completely in this tight space especially if you use in salt water often. View photo to see exactly where to apply lube oil and be sure lube oil penetrates all the way into and through flopper barb retaining pin holes click photo on right to see larger view.

    • A- Always cover the KT Head's point when not in use with the protective tube that it came with when purchased as this will 1. help to minimize any damage to the point should it bump into a hard object and 2. for safety reasons.
